Kihihi Orphanage

We are currently undertaking our largest project yet, to establish an orphanage in Kihihi -- a small, remote village located in southwestern Uganda -- where there is a large number of young children who have lost both parents. The village borders a large National Park and due to insufficient government funding for fencing and protection, wild animal attacks are common for locals. Mother's are vulnerable to crocidile and hippo attacks while washing clothes and collecting water at the riverfront, and father's face attacks while protecting the National Parks.

There are more than 80 orphans in the surrounding area and many don't have a stable home, or access to education and food. As such, we have decided to build a new orphanage and primary school in the area. Our progress so far:

1. Purchase a plot of land near the village centre for building (completed)

2. Dig and lay piping to connect a water supply to the area (completed)

3. Build the essential buildings -- accommodation blocks for the orphans, classrooms for teaching & toilet facilities (construction in progress)

4. Add additional facilities -- including a playground, kitchen & dining area (in the process of fundraising for)
